On January 7 2025, Malaysia and Singapore signed an agreement to create a special economic zone (SEZ) in Johor designed to attract global investments, ease cross-border flows of goods and people, and create tens of thousands of jobs. Singapore Prime Minister Lawrence Wong highlighted the zone’s potential to deepen bilateral cooperation.
