Losing your Singapore Identity Card (IC/NRIC) requires prompt action. ICA advises residents to report the loss and apply for a replacement within 14 days.

What to do immediately
1. Report the loss online and submit a replacement application through ICA’s e-Service (Singpass login). The same online service is used for both reporting and replacement.
2. If you are overseas, ICA allows you to report the loss within 14 days and replace the IC on your next return to Singapore, using the same e-Service.

If you find your IC after reporting it

If you reported the loss but recover the IC before applying for a replacement, ICA advises you to contact them via the enquiry form and provide front and back copies of the recovered IC for assistance.
If a replacement application has already been submitted, a new IC will be issued and no refund will be provided.

Documents required

ICA requires:
• Original documents + copies for ICA to retain
• Official translations for documents not in English (accepted via embassy, notary public, or privately translated and attested/notarised)

Police report: ICA states a police report is not required for IC replacement due to loss.

If reporting loss in person together with a change of address: bring supporting documents such as utility/credit card/telecom bills mailed to the IC holder within the last 3 months.

For Singapore Citizens (SC):
• Baptism/religious certificate (if adding a religious name; must include NRIC number or date of birth)
• Deed poll for change of name (if applicable; parental/legal guardian consent required if under 21, with additional court requirements in certain cases)

For Singapore Permanent Residents (PR):

Fees
• S$100 for first loss
• S$300 for second and subsequent losses

Online payment options include Visa/Mastercard, AMEX, Internet Direct Debit (DBS/POSB, OCBC, UOB, SCB), and PayNow.

Processing time and collection
• ICA processes applications in about 7 working days (may take longer during peak periods; delays can occur if photos/documents don’t meet requirements).
• After approval, ICA notifies you via SMS and email, and you must make an appointment to collect your IC within 3 months of approval.

Where to collect
• Collection is available at SingPost (if applicable) or the ICA Services Centre.
• For online lost-IC replacement applications, you’ll receive an email notification when the IC is ready for collection.
