Commuters urged to plan alternative routes ahead of scheduled 3-month Circle Line disruption
The disruption, which is expected to take place later this year, is part of planned works to integrate the Circle Line with the upcoming Circle Line Stage 6 (CCL6), completing the loop around Singapore’s city centre. Once completed, the extension will enhance connectivity and improve network resilience, allowing trains to run in both directions during disruptions.
During the affected period, train services between Promenade and Marina Bay will be suspended. To minimise inconvenience, free shuttle bus services will be deployed to serve commuters travelling between the affected stations. Additional train and bus services on nearby lines will also be adjusted to help absorb passenger demand.
Senior Minister of State for Transport Jeffrey Siow said the temporary closure is necessary to ensure the safe and seamless integration of the new infrastructure into the existing rail network. He acknowledged that the disruption would cause inconvenience but assured commuters that agencies are working closely to manage crowd control and travel times.
Commuters are encouraged to check official transport platforms, including LTA’s website and mobile applications, for updates closer to the start of the disruption. Employers have also been urged to consider flexible working arrangements where possible to help ease peak-hour congestion.
LTA said it will continue to engage the public ahead of the closure to provide clearer guidance on alternative routes and travel options.
