Description
Born from a multitude of submitted images, sounds and words, ranging from the poetic to the peculiar, The People’s Graphic Score is an experimental audiovisual project shaped by public contributions. Following an open call for submissions, Song-Ming Ang invited a selection of fellow artist-musicians to respond to the public contributions with original music in an intimate concert setting, culminating in two evenings of performances.

As a living, growing archive and an anthropological snapshot of shared concerns and curiosities, The People’s Graphic Score can be seen as a process of translation, exchange and collective creation.

Join us in exploring the intersections of sound, image and community, and witness how a crowdsourced project comes alive.

About the Artist Song-Ming Ang’s creative output spans art, music and text in various formats, exploring how amateurism and mundanity can generate alternative forms of knowledge. His practice revolves around producing “not-quite-art” and “not-quite-music,” refracting ideas from conceptual art and experimental music while forming a personal curriculum of learning and making. Ang represented Singapore at the 58th Venice Biennale with Music for Everyone: Variations On a Theme. He has exhibited at The High Line (New York), Camden Arts Centre (London), Haus der Kulturen der Welt (Berlin), the 14th Istanbul Biennale, the 4th Aichi Triennale and the 3rd Singapore Biennale. He holds an MA (Distinction) in Aural & Visual Cultures from Goldsmiths, University of London, and a BA (Hons) in English Literature from the National University of Singapore.
