Change of Particulars for Certificate of Identity (Singapore)
When to Update Particulars
You must notify ICA and update your COI details if there are changes to:
• Name (e.g., due to marriage or legal change of name)
• Date of birth (if corrected or legally amended)
• Gender
• Other personal particulars that appear on the COI
Keeping your COI accurate is essential, as incorrect or outdated information may lead to difficulties at immigration checkpoints abroad.
Required Documents
To update your COI, you need to submit:
• A completed Change of Particulars Form
• Your current COI
• Supporting documents that evidence the change (e.g., marriage certificate, legal name change document, birth certificate)
• Two recent passport-sized colour photographs
• Any additional documents as required by ICA
Documents not in English must be accompanied by a certified English translation.
Application Process
Applications for updating COI particulars are submitted in person at the ICA Services Centre in Singapore. Applicants should arrive at the ICA Centre and take a queue number before submitting the completed form and supporting documents to the service counter.
Fees
There is a fee payable for updating COI particulars. The amount varies depending on the nature of the change and the issuance of a new COI.
Processing Time
Processing times may vary, but most requests are completed within a few working days after submission and verification of supporting documents. ICA will inform you when your updated COI is ready for collection.
Important Notes
• Your updated COI must be carried when travelling internationally.
• Always check whether the updated particulars meet your destination country’s entry requirements.
