SINGAPORE — The national football team will face defending champions Vietnam in the group stage of the 2026 ASEAN Football Championship following the official draw held on Tuesday.

Singapore has been drawn into Group B alongside Vietnam, Thailand and Brunei. The Lions will begin their campaign aiming to build on recent competitive performances in regional tournaments, with Vietnam expected to provide a stern test as ASEAN’s reigning title holders.

The 2026 championship, staged biennially, gathers Southeast Asia’s leading national teams in a showcase of regional football talent. Singapore’s preparations will now focus on tactical strengthening and match-readiness ahead of the tournament, which kicks off next year.

Vietnam enters the competition as the defending champions, having won the previous edition, and is widely regarded as one of the region’s strongest sides. Thailand, another traditional contender, and Brunei complete the group lineup, setting up a series of challenging fixtures for Singapore.

The Football Association of Singapore will announce match dates and venues closer to the tournament, with local supporters eager to see the Lions test themselves against some of the region’s best.
